Usher, an R&B singer, began his career at the tender age of ten. He was a member of the R&B quintet NuBeginnings at the time. After performing Boyz II Men's "End of the Road" at his audition for LA Reid, co-founder of LaFace, at the age of 13, Usher was offered a record deal by the label. But this did not ensure that he would succeed. Usher had vocal loss whilst making his debut album, having reached puberty. In the spring of 1994, LA Reid put a halt to his album and sent Usher to live with record boss Puff Daddy (now Sean P Diddy Combs) in New York so he could "attend" what Reid called "Flavor Camp." According to the artist, this was one of the toughest parts of his career.
He dropped his first self-titled album in 1994 with P Diddy. The album has sold over 500,000 copies to date and debuted at number twenty-five on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums list. It was supported by three singles, "Can U Get wit It," "Think of You," and "The Many Ways." Shortly thereafter, Usher's mother took over his career, signing him to more talent shows for the summer of 1995.
Usher, who cited Michael Jackson as his greatest inspiration, changed the world of R&B by adding pop to it. His sound is very cool and captivating because of how distinct his voice is. In addition to having a remarkable singing voice, his stage presence is AMAZING. Anyone who watches Usher perform is enthralled by his powerful dancing and is left wanting more!
Usher has had nine number-one hits and eighteen top-ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100. He was the only male solo artist to spend more than 47 weeks at the top of the chart. In 2004 alone, he held the top spot on the Hot 100 for 28 weeks, breaking the previous record for most weeks in a single calendar year. His 2010s hit song "OMG" makes him the first performer to have number-one hits in three different decades (1990s, 2000s, 2010s). He became the sixth artist in history to do so, following Madonna, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, and Stevie Wonder. Additionally, he made history by being the third male soloist to have at least one number-one song from five straight studio albums.
This upcoming tour called Past Present Future is a celebration of his 30-year career. We will be hearing songs that dominated the early 2000s and new ones from his latest album. Given said theme, we can expect to see a mix of upcoming artists and prior collaborators to join him on stage.
