Legends Classic at Barclays Center

Beginning in 2007, the Legends Classic has been an annual early-season collegiate basketball competition. It is held in November to kick off the new academic year. In the Legends Classic, four teams (representing four conferences) compete. The Barclays Center in Brooklyn has served as the primary site for the tournament's events around the New York metropolitan area. With support from Old Trapper, Auburn, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, and St. Bonaventure will compete in the 2023 Legends Classic.

The Legends Classic was founded in 2007 with the first two events being played at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Each team has a guaranteed four games since the 2008–09 season. In the first year of its run, only the four regional-round hosts were guaranteed to play four games, as Texas, Tennessee, West Virginia, and New Mexico State each hosted a pair of games. This happened before moving on to the semifinals in Newark.

Last year, the Arizona State were hailed as the 2022 Legends Classic champions. Do you have any guesses on who will take the trophy at this year’s event? Out of Auburn, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, and St. Bonaventure, there can only be one champion. There will also be a consolation game, so stay tuned!

The event this year will be held on the 16th to the 17th of November at the Barclays Center. The venue is a multi-purpose stadium located in Brooklyn, New York. It is home to the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association and the New York Liberty of the Women's National Basketball Association. Tickets to the games on the 16th are available here by clicking ‘get tickets.’ The venue holds a limited capacity, so be sure to grab yours while they are available.

For the 16th’s event, the tournament will hold two games, matching up teams from the four colleges, in a semifinals as they claim their spots at the finals to be held on the following day. Match ups are yet to be announced - once the tournament has released them, we will update accordingly.
